Updating a QR Code's Destination URL

How to change where a dynamic QR code points without reprinting.

One of the biggest advantages of dynamic QR codes is the ability to change their destination at any time. The physical QR code (printed or displayed) never needs to change — only the redirect target in your dashboard.

How to update a destination

  • Log in and go to your QR Codes dashboard.
  • Find the QR code you want to update and click it to open its detail view.
  • Click 'Edit' or the pencil icon next to the current destination URL.
  • Enter the new URL and click 'Save'.
  • The change takes effect immediately — all future scans will go to the new destination.

Tip: Changes are instant and global. If your QR code has been scanned in multiple countries, all future scans everywhere will see the updated destination immediately.

Can I update a static QR code?

No. Static QR codes encode the destination directly in the visual pattern. The only way to change a static QR code's destination is to generate an entirely new QR code and reprint/redistribute it. This is why dynamic codes are recommended for most use cases.

Note: On the Free plan, dynamic QR codes expire after 7 days. After expiry, scans will show an expired-link page. Upgrade to a paid plan to remove the expiry limit.
