Using Custom Short Codes

Set a memorable, branded short code for your links (e.g. /spring-sale instead of /ab3x7).

Custom short codes let you replace the auto-generated random code with a human-readable word or phrase. This makes links easier to communicate verbally and more on-brand.

Requirements for custom codes

  • 3–50 characters long.
  • Letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), hyphens (-), and underscores (_) only.
  • Must be unique — if the code is taken, you will be prompted to choose a different one.
  • Case-insensitive — 'MySale' and 'mysale' are treated as the same code.

Setting a custom code

  • When creating a new shortlink, enter your desired code in the 'Custom short code' field.
  • To change an existing shortlink's code, open its edit view and update the 'Short code' field.
  • Changes to the short code change the URL — update any places you have already shared the old link.

Note: Custom short codes are available on Standard, Advanced, and Business plans. Free plan shortlinks use auto-generated codes only.
